A friend needs a used Compaq V6000 series laptop/netbook. His has... fried.
He would like to transfer his HDD overto another Compaq V6320 so as to not
lose any of his files and continue "business-as-usual".
Thanx.

Likely lot easier to just buy another laptop and copy over to it what he
wants. That's easily done by removing the hard disk from existing
non-working unit, putting it in a USB enclosure and then connecting it to
new laptop. It shows as another hard disk and one can simply copy from it to
the new hard disk as required. He can then continue to use the old drive as
an external backup drive (or whatever) if he so chooses to.

Note - this method gets your data files (e.g. pics, docs etc.). More
knowledge of what and from where to copy is required to move over email,
network settings, passwords etc. etc. Also most program will not work if
simply copied over in this manner and instead must be reinstalled so insure
have the required disks.
